Artist's Comments

"It was as though the scales fell from my eyes and the openings of the universe were shown to me. What I felt was pure, divine, eternal, knowing, compassionate love, and it was obvious. It wasn't even exhilarating. It was like when you look at an optical illusion and all of a sudden, 'Oh, I see.' It just switched like this. 'Oh, I see. I am that. I come from that. That is what I am. And that is what everything is.'"
-- Elizabeth Gilbert

I was listening to an interview with the author of Eat, Pray, Love, and she was talking about her experiences with mediation and spirituality... and I started on this piece. I've been wanting to do something like this for a long time, something simple, symbolizing my own relationship nature/my Higher Power.

It's been a long time since I've considered myself to be religious, or even especially spiritual. There was a point where I was very serious about my spiritual studies/exploration, but when I fell into a spell of depression, all exploration stopped. I'd like to change that soon.

Lovely picture, with a beautiful woman in a beautiful dress, sitting in front of a beautiful tree. Very tranquil.

Heh. Thanks. It didn't come out as well as I had hoped. The woman looks a little too pasted in. But it's really the concept that matters, I think.

I love it!

And you knew I would, I'm sure!

Just lovely. This is my favorite piece of yours, now.

Why is it that I find it so difficult to accept the present moment, whole as an apple, without cutting and hacking at it to find a purpose, or setting it up on a shelf with other apples to measure its worth...? ~Sylvia Plath

:) Of course I knew it. :giggle: I was looking forward to your comment.
